Stoked As rippled through the glass like a rewinding landslide, settling with a honeycomb head atop a brown and black body that resembles filtered coffee. Due to spending two months in rum barrels, provided by Sydney rum distillers Brix, the pungent pirate aromas hit your nostrils as soon as they are above your glass. Immediate tastes are of cacao nibs and blackberries which are revealed to smaller notes amongst the warm and spicy rum infusion. Lingering endnotes are a complex crash landing of all your taste experiences, hanging around like a long black and Champion Ruby. Possibly the bass player of this beer, the alcohol content seems to be the ideal strength for this unconventional stout, lifting the intensity without forgoing flavour.
